Not only are organized sports important for youth, but also for adults. The purpose of all YMCA adult sports programs is to have fun, practice good sportsmanship, stimulate teamwork, develop values through character development, and build community relationships.
Men’s Basketball League
This 12 week game season begins on December 6 and runs thru February 28. Games are played on Wednesday evenings at the Maquoketa High School ‘old gym’. All players must be 18-years old and out of high school.
This 12 game season begins on January 4 and runs through March 22. Games are played on Thursday evenings at the Maquoketa Area Family YMCA. All players must be 18-years old and out of high school.
Pickleball (4:30pm – 5:30pm, Mon. – Fri.)
A paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.
1. A fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong.
2. Played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net.
3. Played with a paddle and a plastic ball.
