Commitment to Quality
The Scott County Family Y’s Licensed Child Care programs are designed to meet the developmental needs of young children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. We provide experiences that enhance and enrich each child’s cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical and creative development. Within the center’s daily schedule, each child has opportunities to create, to explore the environment, to develop problem solving and personal interaction skills and to develop concepts through experiences.
Children develop a positive self-concept through a balance of self-directed activities and teacher-assisted activities. Staff serve as positive role models and provide care that is supportive, nurturing, warm and responsive to each child’s needs. Lesson plans and informational letters are shared with the parents weekly. This allows parents to become even more involved in their child’s classroom experience. We operate under all licensing regulations set forth by the State of Iowa’s Quality Rating System. In addition, we implement criteria from National Association for the Education of Young Child as well as guidelines developed by the YMCA of the USA. All sites are state licensed and exceed the state-mandated ratio of teacher to students.
Your Y Early Childhood Learning Center offers programs that are designed with developmentally appropriate activities that stimulate a child’s intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth.
Our centers provide a warm, caring and fun environment that stimulates their natural curiosity and encourages personal expression. Children develop communication, reasoning and problem-solving skills through play, interaction with other children, and exploration of their environment.
The values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility are at the core of all programs and activities.
The Y uses The Creative Curriculum® as the foundation for creating the best programs for children.
The result is a comprehensive curriculum with a clean organizational structure and a particular focus on routines and learning experiences. Developmentally appropriate programs foster joyful and purposeful learning while they address specific needs. Click here for more info on the Creative Curriculum model.

- Specific needs and interests of the children

Child Watch at our branch facilities while you work out
We’re the Scott County FAMILY Y for a reason! A strong community is built through the most important relationships, and there isn’t anything more important than the bond between parent and child. Therefore, we work to provide support to parents as they pursue Healthy Living.
Child Watch is a high-quality service available to all of our family memberships for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years at our Bettendorf, Davenport, North & West branches and 6 weeks to 12 years at our Utica Ridge branch. The cost of membership covers the Child Watch service. We’d tell you that Child Watch is FREE, but we don’t want anyone to think it’s a low-quality program. In fact, we take great concern to offern only trained staff with specific ratios and quidelines for service.
Click here to decide which local YMCA branch is best for you. Then, just click on that branch to view Child Watch schedules. We offer Child Care at different times and on different days to best meet the needs of our families.
