YMCA Camp Abe Lincoln has been proudly serving youth and families in the community for 90 years. As a branch of the Scott County Family Y, we work to forward to mission of the YMCA: To put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

We know it can be difficult sending your child off to people you do not know personally. However, you can sleep easy! Our counselors and staff at Camp are not only capable, but are also very excited to work with your child this summer. Camp Abe Lincoln follows over 300 standards in safety, health and program quality as a the level to meet and surpass to ensure a quality experience for all.
During the hiring process, we do expansive background checks to ensure your child’s safety. All counselors we hire are over the age of 18 and go through a very extensive training program. Besides preparing them to work with children, we also certify them in all the various program areas that Camp Abe Lincoln has to offer. We lifeguard train all of our staff, so your children are safe in all of our aquatic program areas. We also have a medic on site and have a Registered Nurse on call at all times.
Meet the Staff
Nick “Papa Smurf” Martinez, Executive Director
Nick has worked at Camp since 2005. He is originally from Tennessee and found his way to the mid-west when he attended the University of Dubuque. As a summer job, he started as a camp counselor and realized immediately he had found his passion and career. Throughout the years, he moved up to the Resident Camp Coordinator, Program Director, and has been Executive Director since 2014. When he is not working at Camp, he enjoys spending his time with his little in the Big Brother program, trying new cuisines, and hiking with his wife and dogs!

Sydney “Flamingo” Johnson, Administrative Assistant
Sydney joined the camp staff in July of 2018 after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Nonprofit Management from Northern Illinois University. Sydney has lived in the Quad Cities her whole life and enjoys spending time with friends, travelling, and being outside.
