Senior Programs

We have tons of great older adults in our YMCAs every day! We look to them for advice, encouragment, support, a good joke or story and leadership! Many of our programs are designed for participants of all abilities and backgrounds. Below are group fitness programs specifically designed for seniors. In addition, we have a warm-water therapy pool at our Davenport Family YMCA. Click here for the pool schedule that contains our warm water therapy pool.

HEALTHY HEART PROGRAM at the Bettendorf Family YMCA

The YMCA Healthy Heart Program is offered for $50 per month and includes unlimited participation in all of the classes listed above and a YMCA membership good for use at all Quad City YMCA's. Additional members of the household can be added for $11 per person per month. Also included in the program fee are daily blood pressure screenings and additional seminars geared towards members pursuing a heart healthy lifestyle. SilverSneakers® Classic
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance and a chair is used for support.
Location: Bettendorf and West branches

SilverSneakers® Circuit
Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance with a standing circuit workout. Class uses hand-held weights, elastic tubing, and a ball with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation techniques.

SilverSneakers® Yoga
Physically and mentally improve your overall well being using a variety of safe and fun yoga postures and breathing exercises. A chair is offered for support and participants work at their own pace to build flexibility and endurance while learning to relax and think more clearly.
Location: Bettendorf branch


FIT FOR LIFE classes are designed for all fitness levels and ages. The classes are designed with easy to follow choreography. From strength, core, yoga and gentle cardio these classes give you a wide variety of formats to choose from.

FIT FOR LIFE Cardio & Strength Intervals
45-60 minutes of cardiovascular and strength intervals. You will increase your upper and lower body strength while also improving your cardiovascular conditioning. All cardio moves are low impact but increase your heart rate to get the best training benefit. You alternate strength exercises with low impact cardio training. Interval training is one of the best ways to get in shape or improve your current conditioning level.
Location: Bettendorf, West and Davenport branches

FIT FOR LIFE Strength & Core
45 to 60 minutes of upper and lower body strength exercises. Use a variety of props such as dumb bells, tubing, stability balls, gliding discs or core balls to develop strength in your upper and lower body. You will also do a variety of exercises designed to strengthen and tone your midsection.
Location: North, Bettendorf and West branches

FIT FOR LIFE Stability Ball
A 45-minute stability ball class designed to improve your core strength as well as strengthen your upper and lower body. Dumb bells will also be used in this class for the upper body strength exercises.
Location: West branch
