Lifeguard Certification Courses

Certification Requirements

  • Attend and participate in all class sessions.
  • Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities.
  • Demonstrate competency in all required  final rescue skill scenarios.
  • Pass both the Section 1: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Session 2: Lifeguarding Skills written exam with a minimum of 80%
 

Certifications Received:  Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED: 2 years

 
Items to Bring:

  • Swimsuit
  • Towel
  • Goggles (optional as you can only use them for the 300 yard swim)
  • Laptop for the electronic copy of the lifeguard book
  • Water bottle
  • Positive Attitude!
 
 

PREREQUISITES:

  • Must be at least 15 years old
  • Swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating rhythmic breathing
  • Within 1 minute, 40 seconds:  swim 20 yards, feet first surface dive 7-10 ft and retrieve a 10-pound object, swim 20 yards back to the starting point and exit the pool without using the ladder/steps
  • Tread water for 2 minutes only using legs
