Frequently Asked Questions

I only need care for my child three days a week.  Do you take part time?

We do not take part time, however, you may bring your child part time but you will have to pay full time rates.


I have to be at work at 5:30 a.m., what time are you open?

The Downtown Learning Center is open from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday-Friday.  The Palmer Learning Center is open from 7 a.m.- 6 p.m., Monday-Friday.


Is there an application fee for me to enroll my child?

There is a $25.00 application fee prior to enrollment, then annually thereafter.


Do you provide meals for my child/ren?

We provide Breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack.  All meals are nutritionally balanced according to the CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program in the State of Iowa).


Can my child start the day I call and need care?

Your child may start once the $25.00 registration fee is paid and the application packet is completed.


I worry about my child. Are the staff trained to handle emergencies?

All staff are certified in CPR/First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens.  They are all Mandatory Abuse Reporters.  Staff recieve a Criminal Background Check prior to employment and are Fingerprinted.


My child is allergic to carrots.  What should I do?

There is a form in the application packet for your physician to complete.  The form will be given to the Kitchen Director as well as your child's teacher.  The Kitchen Director will then replace carrots with another vegetable for your child that day.


We always take a family vacation every summer.  Do I still have to pay while we're away?

Each family recieves 2 weeks vacation which goes from January 1 of the present year to the following January 1.  Inform your Site Director or Site Supervisor when your child will be gone.  Vacations must be used in full weeks.
