Through the local option sales tax, the DCSD has capital resources to renovate and add facilities.  However, operating expenses would have to come from the general fund and would be a challenge in these difficult times. The collaboration with the Scott County Family Y allows the DCSD to have the facilities it needs at North and West High Schools, while not having to increase the District’s operating costs.  The partnership will save the School District and ultimately the taxpayers approximately $18 million over the 25 year shared use agreement.  This pro-active collaboration also allows for an increase in facilities for community use while not taking funds from teachers, students and classroom expenses.
