Drop In Today! Many of our group fitness classes are FREE to members! Our instructors WANT you to give it a try! The Scott County Family Y group fitness programs are designed for everyone! We want to be the perfect place for the "Health Seeker" who isn't always in an exercise routine and wants a safe, caring environment to help them develop a routine and achieve their fitness goals. We also strive to develop classes and programs that will push even the most experienced, "committed" exercisers. For example, our Yoga classes have been designed with different levels to introduce the beginner, to push the intermediate, and to challenge the experienced. Almost all of our group fitness classes are FREE to members. Many of these classes are also on a drop-in basis. So feel free to stop by your branch and give one a try. Our instructors are trained to make everyone feel welcome and appreciated for their individuality, while still pushing the class as a whole to reach their potential. Youth & Family Classes Lil’ Beats- A 30 minute basic drumming class for preschooler ages 2-5. The class utilizes stability balls, drumsticks and fun music. The class helps develop coordination and rhythm while drumming and moving to the music. Bettendorf Branch Y Fit Kidz 45 minutes of exercise and activities designed for kids ages 7-11. This class is a structured class that will utilize intervals and circuit training to get kids active and teach them about strength and cardio training. It is appropriate for all children ages 7-11. Bettendorf Branch Zumba Kids! A 30 minute cardio class designed for kids that incorporates fun Latin music with easy to follow moves. This class is appropriate for any kid who wants to have fun! Cardio Classes Belly Dancing This form of dance has positive effects on the human body. The graceful hip drops, rolls, and pivots utilize the core muscles while working with the body and not against it. It improves posture, muscle tone, and flexibility. Try this fun way to lose weight and reduce stress. FIRST STEP! WEST Branch Cardio Express 30 minutes of high energy cardio. Your instructor will vary the format class each time. Step, kickboxing or athletic skills and drills. Use it as a warm up or as your cardio workout. Bettendorf Branch Cycling Basics 30 minutes of cycling basics. This class will introduce the new cyclists to proper form and technique in indoor cycling. No pre-registration required. Water and towel are recommended when attending this class. FIRST STEP! Bettendorf Branch Cycling - Ride & Roll-30 minutes of core conditioning on the stability ball after 45 minutes of cycling. Start with a 45 minute ride of intervals, sprints and hill climbing. Follow it with 30 minute of total core conditioning. This class requires pre-registration and additional fee. Bettendorf Branch Group Cycling Indoor cycling is a great way to not only get a great cardiovascular workout, but strengthen and tone the lower body as well. This class simulates outdoor cycling with climbing, endurance rides and interval training. Perfect for the seasoned rider or the novice, indoor cycling delivers a great workout. Class size is limited and registration is required. Punch cards are available for purchase, but do not guarantee a bike; registered participants are first. All participants are encouraged to bring water and a towel to class. SPD pedals are available on all bikes. FIRST STEP! Bettendorf, West and Downtown Branches Les Mills RPM The indoor cycling workout where you ride to the rhythm of powerful music. Take on the terrain with your inspiring team coach who leads the pack through hills, flats, mountain peaks, time trials, and interval training. Discover your athlete within – sweat and burn to reach your endorphin high! WEST Branch Zumba! Are you ready to get your Latin groove on? Come join us for a great cardiovascular class that uses fun Latin dance moves and Latin music. This class is appropriate for all levels. No previous dance experience required. Just come ready to have some fun! FIRST STEP! Bettendorf, North, WEST and Downtown Branches Zumba Party! 60 minutes of intermediate to advance choreography. This class is designed to challenge you and have fun at the same time. So if you want to take your Zumba to the next level this is the class for you! Bettendorf Branch Les Mills BODYPUMP® is the original barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This M.E.T. & T.B.W (Muscle Endurance Training & Total Body Workout) Increase your lean muscle by toning and shaping your muscles. Hand weights, bands, tubing and stability balls will be used in this class. Get fit and strong and strengthen your entire body. This class is appropriate for all levels. FIRST STEP! Bettendorf, WEST & Downtown Branches Stability Ball Fitness Total body conditioning utilizing the stability ball. You will strengthen and tone your body using various exercises and props in this class. Core strength is emphasized in this rolling workout! FIRST STEP! Downtown and WEST Branches

Bettendorf Branch Les Mills BODYVIVE® is the low-impact group fitness workout that lets you choose just how hard you work. Using the VIVE™ balls, VIVE™ tubes and optional hand weights you’re talked step-by-step through the entire class by a skilled instructor, while listening to uplifting and inspiring music. Best of all, you finish feeling thoroughly rejuvenated – and fizzing with energy! FIRST STEP! Bettendorf and WEST Branches Bootcamp This fun-filled, high intensity, no choreography skill and drills class will get you in shape! Get cardio and strength using a variety of equipment and your own body weight. Be prepared for anything! This class is designed for intermediate to advanced fitness levels. North and WEST Branches Cardio & Strength A one hour class of mixed cardiovascular training combined with strength training. The format of this class will vary based on the instructor’s choice. Mind & Body Classes Body Flow is the Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centered and calm. Controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses to music create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony and balance. North Branch Pilates The mat class is a series of floor exercises designed to re-align and strengthen your body, concentrating on your abdominal muscles or core. This class incorporates breathing, strength, flexibility and proper alignment to achieve optimal results! FIRST STEP! Bettendorf, Downtown and West Branches Yoga Basics Learn the fundamentals of basic Hatha Yoga in this gentle but stimulating class. Learn the basics of various poses and the importance of breath. End with a restorative and relaxing pose. Appropriate for all levels. WEST Branch Yoga-Gentle & Restorative Come learn the fundamentals of basic Hatha Yoga in this gentle but stimulating yoga class. You will learn the basics of various poses and the importance of breath. End class with a final restorative and relaxing pose. This class is appropriate for all levels. FIRST STEP! North Branch Yoga-Power “Power Yoga” is a strength and flexibility workout, emphasizing breath and focus while flowing through a series of postures. All students of yoga will find this class enlivening and a challenge for the mind as well as the body. This class is appropriate for intermediate to advanced participants. Bettendorf Branch Yoga –Flow & Strength Yoga Flow & Strength incorporates basic Hatha Yoga moves in a flowing sequence. Learn to incorporate breath with your physical poses. Relax and de-stress your mind with the restorative poses. This class is appropriate for all levels but introductory class encouraged before attending. FIRST STEP! North and Downtown Branches Yoga - Vinyasa Flow Let go and flow in this gentle Vinyasa class as we focus on linking breath with movement and explore the spirit, mind, body connection. Specialty Programs Living Strong, Living Well™ is a 12-week small group program designed for adult cancer survivors who have recently become de-conditioned or chronically fatigued from their treatment and/or disease. Our goal is to help patients build muscle mass and muscle strength, increase flexibility and endurance, and improve functional ability. Additional goals include reducing the severity of therapy side effects, preventing unwanted weight changes, and improving energy levels and self esteem. A final goal of the program is to assist participants in developing their own physical fitness program so they can continue to practice a healthy lifestyle as a way of life. Active Older Adult Classes Fit For Life Unite the spirit, mind and body in one of the Scott County Fit Over Fifty a 45 minute class utilizing dumb bells, tubing, Gliding discs, SilverSneakers® I MSROM (Muscular Strength Range Of Motion) Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to improve daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball SilverSneakers® II Cardio Circuit Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance with a standing circuit workout. Class uses hand-held weights, elastic tubing, and a ball with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation techniques. FIRST STEP! West Branch SilverSneakers® Yoga Stretch Physically and mentally improve your overall well being using a variety of safe and fun yoga postures and breathing exercises.
