Child Care

Good child care is at the heart of a strong, healthy family. The Scott County Family Y Child Care and Family Services branch is built on the YMCA’s time-tested core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.  Every activity and project is carefully designed to spark your child’s imagination and to nurture the development of positive values. The children are constantly encouraged to make discoveries that strengthen self-confidence. This, in turn, has a remarkable effect on the bond between parent and child.

All parents already know the peace of mind that comes after accomplishing a lot in a day. With the Scott County Family Y’s Child Care programs, you’ll give your child the same, successful feeling.

The YMCA’s commitment to character development is gently put into practice through all of our child care programs. Our state-licensed Day Care and Preschool programs are designed to begin young children on a quest for a strong, happy and meaningful life.

Universal Preschool is an exciting program that is a unique collaboration between Scott County Family Y, Palmer College and the Davenport Community School District. This is a FREE preschool program operating from 9-11:30am or 12:30-3pm Monday through Friday. Because this program is funded by the Department of Education, there are no income guidelines to qualify for participation. Children must be 4 years old by September 15th of the current school year.

Our School Age programs continue growth in character development with curriculum designed to enhance the learning already taking place at a child’s school in a fun and safe environment. Our Davenport, North, West and Bettendorf Family YMCA branches each have their own programs, too.  Our school age programs are also perfect for times when school is not in session, including summertime, in-service and conference days, and holiday breaks.

YMCA Camp Abe Lincoln also offers a phenomenal Day Camp Program, allowing children to have access to all of the tremendous opportunities of camp with the security of their own beds.

The Scott County Family Y also has a free babysitting program for members.
