What are your hours of operation?
The Learning Center is open from 6AM 6PM
The Palmer/YMCA Childcare Center is open from 7AM 6AM
Kid’s Club is open from 6AM until the start of the school day & the end of the school day until 6PM.

What days are your childcare centers open?
Monday Friday year-round with the exception of major holidays
- New Year’s Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving and the day after
- 4th of July
- Memorial Day
- Christmas Eve (Learning Center and Palmer/YMCA open until 12:00PM)
- Christmas Day
- New Year’s Eve (Learning Center and Palmer/YMCA open until 12:00PM)
*On In-Service days at the elementary schools, we offer a “Kid’s Day Out”*
Do you offer Part-time childcare?
No. We are a full-time childcare center.
Is there a registration fee?
Yes. $25 is due at the time of registration.
Do you accept 3rd party funding?
Yes. 3rd party funding is accepted and scholarships are also available to those who qualify.
Are you a licensed childcare provider?
Yes. All of our sites are licensed and follow all of the childcare standards and procedures of the Iowa Department of Human Services.
How old does my child need to be before he/she can be enrolled in your program?
At our Learning Center and Palmer/YMCA Childcare Center, we enroll children as young as 6 weeks old. For our Kid’s Club Program, your child must be enrolled in kindergarten and for Summer Fun Club, your child must have completed kindergarten.
Are meals provided at your centers?
Yes. In our Learning Center and Palmer Childcare Center, a balanced breakfast is served daily at 8:30AM; lunch is between 11:30AM - 12:30PM; and a nutritious snack is given in the afternoon (these hours apply to our Summer Fun Club Program also). Breakfast and an afternoon snack are served during our school-age Kid’s Club Program.
What do I need to provide for my child while he/she is in your care?
The only items you need to provide are a change of clothes (season appropriate), swimwear, and diapers/wipes (if necessary).
Is there any teacher per student ratios in your classrooms?
Yes. All of our childcare programs follow the ratio guidelines of the Iowa Department of Human Services. Those guidelines are as follows:

Are there any YMCA Programs included at your childcare centers?
Yes. The children at the Learning Center and Palmer/YMCA Childcare Center take part in “Fit Kids” which is a physical fitness program that teaches the children about healthy lifestyles and exercise. We also use other programs and activities to teach children in all of our programs the positive values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
